At the University of Michigan’s 2026 commencement ceremony, the outgoing Faculty Senate Chair Professor Derek R. Peterson submitted pre-approved remarks – then deliberately switched them out and delivered a one-sided political attack praising pro-Palestinian activists before 80,000 people, with no mention of October 7, the 1,200 Israelis massacred, or the hostages.
A sitting Regent who was there called it antisemitic. The university apologized but called it “30 seconds.” It wasn’t.
