In trying to send a message to prospective students to “take the next step with Stony Brook,” the university posted a video on the school ‘s official Facebook page. It asked students to guess what each pictured student is majoring in, and the first choice features a student with a keffiyeh draped around her shoulders.
Is Jew-hatred a major at Stony Brook? Keffiyeh-making?
That is not welcoming. In fact, when such a photo is chosen, it sends a strong negative message to the Jewish community. Stony Brook owes everyone an apology.
