UN Bookshop Blocks Jewish Authors, Stocks Everyone Else
The UN Bookshop rejected a bestselling book by Jonathan Harounoff — an Iranian-heritage, pro-Israel writer — claiming it was self-published and too country-specific. Both excuses fell apart: the book was traditionally published, and the shelves are packed with titles by UN insiders writing about specific countries and regions all the time. Once called out, the Bookshop quietly reversed course within hours and admitted its mistake.
This isn’t a one-off — the Bookshop also rejected a book by Eli Sharabi, a former Israeli hostage held by Hamas.
