Tell Cornell University: Investigate What Happened at Sage Chapel — And Demand Federal Review
Before the event, serious concerns were raised directly with Cornell leadership about hosting Hasan Piker at Sage Chapel. Cornell proceeded anyway, using university security and its own chapel. The event closed with the moderator leading the crowd in “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” with Piker joining in.
Less than a year ago, Cornell reached a federal agreement involving $60 million in financial commitments — $30 million to the federal government and another $30 million in agricultural research — along with continuing obligations under federal civil-rights law.
The University of Washington reviewed a Piker event and pulled the plug before it happened. Cornell had the same information and more time, but let it happen anyway.
